Bead Doll FAQ Version II

Hair and Fringe

Always try to save the hair for the last. Sometimes this isn't easy, but working with a doll with hair or fringe flopping in the way is difficult. If temptation gets the best of you, cover the head tightly with a baggie and a rubberband, the hair becomes less of a problem. (Although your poor doll will look as if it's suffocating!)

Basic Fringe

The common stitch used for adding beads for hair is the fringe stitch. Repeating several rows of this stitch will give the look of thick, wild beaded hair.

There aren't any limits to what you can use for hair for your doll, though. Use your imagination. Add a hat, or fur, or yarn. You can give your doll a crown or leave her bald. Sometimes little non-beady embellishments make all the difference in a doll. Ribbons also can make a great material for hair, or hang charms and bangles for your doll's tresses.

FINALLY!

Beaded dolls take a lot of patience to complete. The finished product is priceless, though! Take care to display your doll well! Doll stands can be found at many craft stores. You may want to embellish your doll stand with beads to match your doll, or paint it to compliment your doll.

Please, when you complete your doll, share it with us at the Bead Art Forum! We all love to admire creative bead art!!
